Paralegals

Caplin & Drysdale paralegals support the firm’s attorneys by assisting with substantive legal work as well as administrative tasks. Paralegals play an integral role in client matters, and work closely with our attorneys to deliver preeminent client services. Typical tasks involve document drafting, organization and review, legal research, assistance with due diligence matters, and the general support of attorneys and staff members.

Litigation Paralegal

Caplin & Drysdale is seeking a junior to mid-level Litigation Paralegal to work in our Tax Controversies practice group in our DC office. Qualified applicants must have strong academic credentials and be available for overtime.

Qualified applicants must have:

  • At least 2+ years experience; ideal applicant will have at least 4 years of experience as a litigation paralegal.
  • Advanced level cite-checking ability (according to blue book)
  • Advanced experience with electronic document management (e.g., Relativity or Concordance skills)
  • Exceptional organizational and file management skills, Ability to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to read and edit legal briefs and memoranda.
  • Intermediate to Advanced understanding of litigation support database, Relativity is REQUIRED.
  • Intermediate to Advanced understanding of Word, familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint a must.
  • Must be able to speak and interact positively with vendors regarding electronic data, conversions and creation of databases.
  • Must be able to supervise all aspects of a project from copying and quality checking to filing and making sure documents are properly distributed to the attorney group.
  • Basic Lexis-Nexis and Westlaw understanding is helpful.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Paralegal certificate preferable.
