In 2014, Andrew Segna joined Caplin & Drysdale's Exempt Organizations Group as an Associate. Before joining the firm, Mr. Segna was a tax associate at a national law firm, where he focused on transactional tax work. He previously worked as a summer associate at Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts and an intern at Charles River Ventures.
Mr. Segna's tax practice serves a wide range of tax-exempt organizations, including foundations, educational institutions, social welfare organizations, and cultural entities. He assists nonprofits in achieving their missions by offering practical advice on obtaining and preserving tax-exempt status, as well as identifying and resolving compliance issues. Mr. Segna also counsels nonprofits on corporate governance issues and conversions of for-profits to nonprofit status. Additionally, he has experience with mergers, acquisitions, and partnerships.
Mr. Segna also serves as General Counsel to Buildable Hours, Inc., a Washington, D.C. nonprofit group that coordinates contributions and volunteer activities between law firms nationwide and local Habitat for Humanity organizations.
