Washington, D.C. – Caplin & Drysdale, a Washington, D.C. based law firm, promotes Michael W. Durham, William M. Klimon, Lucy S. Lee and Joanne C. Youn to membership in the firm effective February 1, 2011. The new members belong to the firm's tax, exempt organizations, and employee benefits practice areas.

Joining the membership are:
Michael Durham joined the firm in 2004 as an associate in its Exempt Organizations Practice Group. He focuses principally on representing tax-exempt organizations and their donors. He has represented clients before the IRS in audits, ruling requests, exemption applications, and other matters. He has also represented clients before the Treasury and Congress with regard to new or pending law and regulations. Mr. Durham received his B.A. from Brigham Young University, an M. Phil. from Yale University, and his J.D. from Yale Law School.
William M. Klimon joined the firm in 2001 as an associate in its Exempt Organizations and Corporate Law Practice Groups. He concentrates his practice on corporate governance and transactions, particularly for nonprofit organizations. Over the last decade, he has advised over 500 nonprofit organizations on a complete range of issues from formation to dissolution, including over a dozen nonprofit mergers. Mr. Klimon received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania and a J.D. with honor from the University of Maryland School of Law.
Lucy S. Lee joined the firm in 2007 as an associate in its International Tax, Private Client and Tax Controversies Practice Groups. She has extensive experience in international tax planning and controversies. She works with individuals, businesses and tax-exempt organizations on their cross-border tax compliance, including reporting of interests in offshore investments, financial accounts, and trusts or foundations. Ms. Lee obtained her B.S. from the University of Virginia, J.D. from the George Washington Law School, and LL.M. in Taxation from Georgetown University Law Center.
Joanne C. Youn joined the firm in 2008 as of counsel in its Employee Benefits Practice Group. She concentrates her practice on all areas of employee benefits law and ERISA. She has significant experience advising clients with regard to the design and administration of qualified pension plans, corrective action under the IRS Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS), and fiduciary obligations under U.S. Department of Labor regulations. Ms. Youn received an A.B. from Harvard University and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
