Firm's Renovated D.C. Office Achieves USGBC "Green" Building Rating

WASHINGTON, D.C. — February 17, 2015: Caplin & Drysdale is pleased to announce that it has earned a LEED® Silver rating from the U.S. Green Building Council® (USGBC®) as a result of the Firm's recent renovation to its Washington, D.C., headquarters at One Thomas Circle. Firm President, Beth Shapiro Kaufman, commented "When we decided to renovate our space, we wanted the result to be functional, energy efficient, and aesthetically pleasing. Our Firm Administrator and the design team were instrumental in ensuring that we met all of these goals."

USGBC® recognized the Firm's renovation in several categories, including efficient use of water, innovation in design, indoor environmental quality, and storage and collection of recyclables. John Riggleman, Firm Administrator, remarked "Our mission was not just creating a beautiful, functional, and professional space, but also a space that would have a positive impact on our attorneys and staff. We obviously succeeded in accomplishing that mission." The design team from Gensler facilitated the renovation project.

LEED®, or Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design, is a green building certification program that recognizes best-in-class building strategies and practices. To receive LEED® certification, building projects satisfy prerequisites and earn points to achieve different levels of certification. Certification is an official recognition that a project complies with the requirements prescribed within the LEED® rating systems as created and maintained by the U.S. Green Building Council®.
