Megan E. Wernke is an Associate in Caplin & Drysdale's Washington, D.C., office. The primary focus of Ms. Wernke's practice is assisting individual clients with estate planning, trust and estate administration, and sophisticated estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer tax planning on the federal and state levels. Additionally, she has significant experience in tax controversy work, addressing gift and estate tax issues in the context of private letter ruling requests, IRS audits, litigation, and the IRS offshore voluntary disclosure program. Existing clients also rely on Ms. Wernke's assistance with the probate and trust administration process.
Prior to joining Caplin & Drysdale, Ms. Wernke worked in the tax department of an international law firm. In this role, Ms. Wernke helped achieve the successful resolution of a multi-million dollar estate tax controversy.
