The 2017 Tax Act raised the estate and gift tax exemption level, creating a host of new considerations in estate planning for wealthy (and not so wealthy) clients. This session will review the estate and income tax changes of relevance to estate planners from the Tax Act. We will consider several common client situations and discuss planning ideas that should be considered. Since the relevant tax provisions are scheduled to expire at the end of 2025, the presentation will include a discussion of what might happen next and how to plan in the face of uncertainty.
