Stafford was responding to a question posed by Peter Barnes, the event's moderator and a senior international tax counsel at Caplin & Drysdale, on whether corporate leadership is focused on "tax morality" and public pressure over the use of tax havens.

Barnes said there's a "ton of attention" paid now to the "wealth divide" and "how terrible we, as tax professionals, are for tax planning," musing that his brother "watches what I do and thinks I must be a terrible, terrible person."
