Mortimer Caplin Comments on Government Shutdown

October 7, 2013, Accounting Today

Caplin & Drysdale's Founding Member and former IRS Commissioner, Mortimer M. Caplin, was featured in an article in the October 7, 2013 edition of Accounting Today.  The article discusses concerns and solutions for corporate and individual taxpayers and their advisors regarding the government shutdown and, in particular, the reduced operations of the Internal Revenue Service.  "The law is still in effect, and businesses and individuals should still continue to file their tax returns and make deposits," Mr. Caplin pointed out. "For those engaged in tax litigation or coming into compliance with IRS regulations, they will have more time to prepare as the IRS and the U.S. Tax Court have suspended operations."
